During the compression cycle, the oil-flooded rotary screw and vane air compressors depend on oil for cooling, lubrication, and sealing. But before the compressed air can be discharged safely to the plant tools, pneumatic processes, or instruments, the entrained oil mist should always be removed completely. Our air oil separator elements use a multi-layer microglass fiber matrix that causes the tiny oil droplets to coalesce into larger drops. Gravity then takes these drops down into a collection zone where there's a line that routes the oil back into the lubrication system. This process is helpful in maintaining low oil carryover, which prevents oil contamination in the downstream airlines and also reduces expensive compressor lubricant loss.
